Torridge District Councillors voted to award £40,509 to make improvements to the play area at Pollyfield Community Centre, at its recent Community & Resources Committee meeting.

Torridge District Council officers, along with representatives from Pollyfield Community Centre, had identified that The Pollyfield 'infant' Play Area needs urgent financial support to upgrade its equipment.  The play space has not seen any improvement for some time and is now in need of investment.  Recently, the main multi-play unit had to be closed for a short time to make good a safety concern.

Councillor Lyndon Piper, Lead Member for Leisure, Torridge District Council, said:

"I am delighted we can use this funding to provide a much needed, suitable safe place for children to play.  Over the last couple of years there has been a great community resurgence around the Pollyfield site, especially with the growth and popularity of the football club.  With the approval of a Playzone to be added to this site, it is important that other facilities, such as the play space are improved to keep up the momentum of revitalising this area."
