Torridge District Council has announced that after several months of design development it is now pleased to be able to launch draft design proposals to update residents on plans for a new Operational Services Centre off Alverdiscott Road in East-the-Water, Bideford.

The designs for the centre are still being finalised ahead of a formal planning submission in April but are now sufficiently developed to enable the details to be shared more widely with Torridge residents for their input and comment. Following the public meeting held at the Pollyfield Centre on the 9th of April an online feedback form will also be available until the 19th of April.

Further information on the proposals can be found here Information and Designs  and the form to submit feedback can be accessed by clicking here: Operational Services Centre Consultation Form

The proposed Centre will provide office space for employees working in waste and recycling, street cleansing, CCTV, harbour services and grounds maintenance.  The site will also include a vehicle workshop and parking for its vehicle fleet, as well as an educational resource centre.  The centre will be an Operational Hub as opposed to a Waste Transfer Station as there will be no black bag domestic waste or processing of household recycled material on site.

The wider project will also offer a wildlife area, which will be developed in conjunction with the local primary school.  As part of the wider community benefits, the project will also complete the link in the new cycle way on Manteo Way onto Alverdiscott Road, to further improve connectivity and road safety for residents.
