Bulky item collections
Overview
The Council offers a Bulky Household Waste Collection Service for residents within the Torridge District.
All bulky items must be placed at the kerbside for collection. Our crews are unable to collect items from inside properties, garages, driveways or gardens.
Due to operational reasons outside of our control, Torridge District Council is temporarily unable to collect fridges and freezers as part of our bulky household waste collection service.
This suspension will remain in place for the foreseeable future while we review the service.
If you have already booked a fridge or freezer collection, your collection will still take place as scheduled.
Residents who need to dispose of a fridge or freezer are encouraged to contact the retailer, as many offer a collection service when delivering a replacement appliance.
Alternatively, you may wish to arrange collection through a licensed waste carrier or contact Devon County Council on 0345 155 1010 to check whether your local Household Waste Recycling Centre will accept the appliance.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience and understanding.
We will update this page as soon as the service becomes available again.
We may also be unable to collect other exceptionally large or heavy items because of vehicle, handling and disposal restrictions. If you are unsure whether an item can be collected, please contact us before booking.
This service is only available to residents who pay Council Tax within the Torridge District.
To arrange a collection, please complete the online booking form or telephone 01237 428700 (Option 3).
Once your payment has cleared, we will contact you within one working day by email (where provided) or telephone to confirm your collection date.
Your bulky items must be placed at the kerbside by 6.00am on the day of collection, or the evening before, with the exception of white goods, metal items, sofas and chairs, which are collected by a separate vehicle. These items must be placed at the kerbside by 7.00am on the day of collection.
Collection dates may change during Bank Holidays and the Christmas and New Year period.
