A discount of £1,000.00 for Public Houses with a rateable value of less than £100,000. The relief will apply from 1 April 2020 and will be for one year only.

The Government has re-introduced the Public House Discount scheme for public houses from April 2020. Under the scheme, eligible pubs will receive a £1,000 discount on their rates bill. The relief will have effect for the 2020-21 year only.

To qualify, the public house must;

  • be occupied
  • have a rateable value of less than £100,000
  • be open to the general public
  • allow free entry other than when occasional entertainment is provided
  • allow drinking without requiring food to be consumed
  • permit drinks to be purchased at a bar

Relief awarded under this scheme is subject to State Aid de minimis limits and a declaration must be completed by eligible ratepayers to confirm their entitlement to the relief.
