Community Governance Reviews

Torridge District Council has carried out a community governance review.

The Council's Full Council held on the 29th October 2018 approved the following Orders in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 86, 98(3), 98(4) and 240(10) of the Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act 2007:

  • The Torridge District Council (Reorganisation of Community Governance) (Abbotsham) Order 2018
  • The Torridge District Council (Reorganisation of Community Governance) (Littleham) Order 2018
  • The Torridge District Council (Reorganisation of Community Governance) (Weare Giffard) Order 2018

The aim of the review was to ensure that community governance (i.e. town and parish) arrangements in Torridge reflect the identities and interests of the district's communities, and are effective and convenient.  In order to achieve this, we are seeking the views of local people.

The review was conducted in accordance with the terms of reference, which were agreed by Full Council on Monday 11 December 2017.  The Terms of Reference are available to download pdf icon here. [204kb]
