Dog walkers urged to keep dogs under control following incident on Northam Burrows

Sheep on Burrows

The Northam Burrows Rangers have urged all dog walkers to keep their dogs under control, following an incident in the morning on Saturday 18th May.

A ewe was discovered with serious injuries, likely to have been caused by a dog attack, and was sadly later put down. Allowing dogs to worry or attack livestock is a criminal offence and the police are asking for witnesses of the attack to come forward.

Northam Burrows Lead Ranger Michael Day said:

"While Northam Burrows is a popular spot for dog walking, owners need to be aware of the livestock that graze here and the wildlife that also call this park their home. Dogs must be kept under control at all times and if in doubt I would always encourage owners to use a lead. We would urge anyone who has information about this latest attack to contact the police who are investigating the matter".

If you have any information regarding the incident on Saturday 18th of May please contact the police on 101.
