The suction dredger WELSH PIPER arrived at the Pilot station early  this morning where she was boarded by TDC pilot R. Hoad.

She berthed at 0645 hrs ready to discharge her cargo of Bristol Channel Sand, which took 2 hours to complete and after ballasting she sailed  at 0915 1.5 hours after high water.

Pilot boat crew /Ropemen were John Pavitt and Thom Flaxman.

The ship was subsequently bound for the Culver dredging ground near the Holm islands, and then to deliver her next cargo of sand to CARDIFF.

Captain Ahmed and crew maintain a busy schedule, working 3 weeks on and 3 weeks off. Most of the crew are Polish, with a British cook and British officers.
