Celtic Navigator sailed

mv CELTIC NAVIGATOR sailed at 1930 hrs from YeLlland on Sunday after her prompt discharge of some 3,750 tonnes of stone by JST crane and Notts Contractors.

She had a change of Master during the day. The new Captain had travelled all night from Poland to be at Yelland to relieve the departing one. He was understandably tired, but had been aboard the ship for a couple of weeks some years ago. He will stay aboard for five months continous working before another long leave.

The long Pilot ladder was negotiated by the pilot R. Hoad on disembarkation in fresh NNW winds, and a lee was made by altering course on the ship between the Bar and Fairway buoy, after the Pilot boat was securly put alongside by Pilot boat coxwain Jjohn Pavitt.

The ship will have a two day passage to Northern Spain to load clay for southern Spain (Castellon).

TDC Pilot boat Two Rivers II was lifted out of the water and taken to the large covered yard shed at Babcock Appledore Shipyard on Monday morning for a major survey and maintenance.

ms OLDENBURG has sailed this morning with some 50 + staying passengers for Lundy Island, and  some 20 or more day trip passengers.
