What's On

The Ranger team organise and run a number of free events throughout the year. They are a great way to explore the park and learn about the local environment. See the information below for our current events:


Family Events-We run a range of family friendly events throughout the year. These are suitable for the young as well as the not so young!

Self-Guided Halloween Trail Saturday the 23rd- Sunday the 31st of October

Beware the pebble goblins and take care when crossing the troll bridge on this spooky self-led trail. Trail maps available here:

Follow the trail and solve the clues to work out the spooky word.

Northam Burrows History Walk Tuesday the 26th of October 2-4pm

Learn about the history of Northam Burrows and Westward Ho! on a guided walk with Dave Edgcombe from the North Devon Coast AONB.

Autumn Amble Thursday the 28th of October 2-4pm

Join the rangers and expert mycologist Dr Williams on a walk around Northam Burrows looking at fungi and other highlights of autumn. Limited Spaces booking essential.

Volunteer Events-Help to look after Northam Burrows at these practical volunteer events. These are suitable for anyone aged 16 and over. No experience necessary but booking essential. Tools and refreshments provided, but please bring good sturdy footwear and weather appropriate clothing, as well as a packed lunch.

Bee Friendly Flower Meadows Wednesday the 22nd of September 10am-4pm

Help the Rangers and the Bumble Bee Conservation Trust to create habitats for the rare Brown Banded Carder Bee. We will be planting bee friendly plants and clearing an existing flower meadow to encourage growth in the new season. Limited spaces booking essential.

Rush Clearance Wednesday the 13th of October 10am-4pm

Help the Rangers to cut and rake areas of the great plain to create better conditions for the rare wildflowers found on Northam Burrows. Limited spaces booking essential.

Install new trail posts Wednesday the 10th of November 10am-4pm

Installing new signposts and information boards to create trail routes across the park. Limited spaces booking essential.

 

Bramble bash Tuesday the 23rd of November 10am-4pm

Come and help us clear encroaching bramble from the precious sand dune areas. This annual job is vital to protect the biodiversity of this habitat. Limited spaces booking essential.
