Log ship nominated - Clay ship nominated - Rowing Regatta Saturday - Tug Goliath last weekend for Southern Beaver =

Tug GOLIATH visited Bideford for stores last weekend whilst awaiting preparation of the laid up sand barge SOUTHERN BEAVER down at Yelland Beach for towing to SOUTHAMPTON. Unfortunatlely the Southern Beaver had more repairs to complete after her inspection by an Marine and Coastguard Agency Surveyor and will not be towed away until next week or later. The tug GOLIATH has returned to Poole.

Mr Michael Eastman has informed the writer that she was built in 1957 at APPLEDORE Shipyard PKHARRIS (Richmond dock)for the MANCHESTER SHIP CANAL Co. as MSC SCIMITAR. Goliath high St July 12

mv BALTIC SAILOR is due to arrive from Liverpool next Wednesday - her ballast draught is 4.2m and she is due to load 2300 tonnes or so of logs for WISMAR. Her air draught is 23.75m giving little clearance under Bideford Torridge Bridge.

mv RABA is due to arrive next Tuesday from Ellesmere Port to load Ball Clay for BENDORF She will load 1700 tonnes and have a draught of about 4 metres - less than the ballast draught of the log ship.

An as yet unominated ship (likely to be one of the Abis ships) is due for Appledore Shipbuilders next Thursday 19th July 2012 sailing on the following Saturday.

Preparations for Bideford Rowing regatta is underway today for tomorrow.
