Ships due for Appledore and Yelland.

mv Welsh Piper is due for Yelland next Thursday 23rd and again on Friday 24th May pm tides for Yelland bringing different grades of sand (Notts Conractors), and a possible stone ship for Yelland also which could arrive from Bank Holiday Monday.

Hanson's Arco Dart is also due (under Pilotage) on Friday 24th and on Monday 27th (Bank Holiday) at the Hanson's Bidna Yard and subequently at Evans Transport wharf Appledore.

Arco Dart has been standing in for another ship in the North West of UK and made no visits to the estuary during April.

Recent rains have improved channel clearances in the river Taw, as well as the river Torridge.

River activity is on the usual seasonal increase with the Bideford 500 Heritage day hosting three gig races on the 29th May and North Devon Yacht Club hosting one of six regional Dart 18 catamaran Grand Prix races over the weekend (Sat and Sun). secretary Thom Flaxman says that they will be using black powder starting guns for the information of other estuary users
