Monday 7th April 2014

Bideford Harbour will be holding an oil pollution exercise at Riverbank House and the Quay at 1000 hours on Tuesday 8th April.

This will include the deployment of a boom, with the scenario that a ship is leaking oil into the harbour. The exercise is a compulsory one on behalf of the Marine and Coastguard Agency.

Our providers Adler and Allan will be called to deploy tier 2 equipment (Bideford holds tier 1 equipment). They have currently deployed a containment boom in Fowey harbour where a leaking ship was recently taken whilst oily water is pumped off her.
