Influenza (The 'flu)

Influenza, more commonly known as the 'flu, is an infectious, viral disease. The 'flu is actually a generic term that covers the symptoms caused by a wide range of viruses, and this means the severity of disease and the exact symptoms can vary greatly from person-to-person, even though they technically have the same illness. This wide range of viral causes also makes it difficult to treat, as each type of virus may require a different, specific treatment.

This great range also means that it is difficult to provide specific advice on the flu. For this reason, we have instead provided some useful links to more authoritative sources regarding the 'flu on the right-hand side of the page. Please click these links to view the information.
