£500 Grant for Cricket Club

Bideford, Littleham & Westward Ho! cricket club has been the most recent beneficiary of the Councillor Grants Scheme which is available through Torridge District Council

They applied for and received a grant of £500 from Westward Ho! councillor Roger Tisdale which will go towards new nets as part of the club's ambitious regeneration plans.

Club chairman Martin Barratt said, "I'm delighted that Councillor Tisdale has seen firsthand the benefits our club has to the local and wider community. We have a strong colts set up here with 112 youngsters on our books, all making full use of the cricket field, our facilities and qualified coaches. His contribution to the new nets is very welcome."

Councillor Tisdale added, "Anything that supports the community here in Westward Ho! will always have my backing. Clubs like this are the backbone of our communities providing opportunities for young people to take part in sporting activities, socialise with older children and see where their talent takes them."

Anyone interested in applying to the Councillor Grants scheme should contact their local district councillor in the first instance, or Torridge's Community Development Team on 01237 428871.
