Residents are required to provide their own black bags or a suitable bag that can be tied to ensure that the waste will not spill out. Refuse can be stored in a dustbin (not wheeled bin) as long as the waste is still within a bag, however loose waste within a dust bin or open box will not be acceptable.
A dustbin or receptacle of height no more than 700mm and diameter no wider than 500mm is acceptable from which to empty refuse, provided that the refuse is contained within refuse sacks.
Please note that we advertise our Bank Holiday Refuse Collection dates for the whole year in the Council Tax Leaflets, which we send out to all households in the Torridge District area. More information on Domestic Refuse Collections can be found below.

The pricing for collecting Commercial Waste is done on a quotation basis. In the first instance, an Officer would attend to price and set up the collection as necessary. However Torridge District Council would not be as competitive as other main contractors who are able to specialise in the bulk collection of commercial waste.
