Appledore Fishdock Expansion

The expansion of Appledore Fish Dock is now complete and already having a beneficial effect on the local fishing industry.

Appledore Fish Dock

Over the last ten years, developments at Appledore fish dock have expanded fishing operations. Local demand for increased capacity has been identified, and in response, improvements to the site have been undertaken, including the creation of:

  • Improved accessibility to services and expansion of on-shore fishing facilities
  • A bespoke fish processing building and ice production plant
  • Managed office space

The Development has been funded by Southwest Regional Development Agency, Government Office Southwest, Marine Fisheries Agency and Torridge District Council with a contribution from the Bideford Trawlermens Co-operative. The project is part-financed by the European Community - European Regional Development Fund.

The new fishdock was designed by Grainge Architects (Exeter) and constructed by SWH Build Ltd of Exeter. It embraces sustainable construction and renewable energy in its design and has been awarded a BREEAM 'Excellent' Rating.
