Armed Forces Day Parade

On Monday 25th June, Torridge District Council will be staging a parade along Bideford Quay followed by a flag raising ceremony in Victoria Park to mark the start of Armed Forces Week.

As part of the build up to Armed Forces Day, which takes place on Saturday 30th June, Torridge will be joining in with others across the country in showing support for the military community, both serving and retired, at home and abroad, by flying the Armed Forces Flag for the whole week.

A number of local organisations and veterans have been invited to join in the parade being led by the Tarka Pipe Band, including the Royal British Legion, the Sea Cadets, Army Cadets, Brownies and members of the Royal Marine Association. Bideford Town Band will be providing a bugler.

Councillor Andrew Eastman, Chair of Torridge District Council said,

"I welcome everyone in the Torridge area, whether resident or visitors, who wishes to attend our ceremony. I hold the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community in very high regard and I know that the support and thanks afforded to Regulars, Reservists, Veterans, serving members and their families is much appreciated, and goes a long way to keeping morale at a high level."

The parade will commence at 6.30pm from outside the Lundy Office on Bideford Quay, and will march through to Victoria Park where the flag raising ceremony will take place.
