Enforcement and Regulation
The Council has an approved Licensing Enforcement Policy in place which explains how the authority will deal with contraventions of licensing laws and other offences.
The Licensing Enforcement Policy complements the Council's Corporate Enforcement Policy and sets out the measures the authority will take to deal with offences. These range from a simple warning to - in the most serious cases - prosecution.
The authority's approach to enforcement is based on the key principles recommended by the Better Regulation Executive:
- proportionality
- consistency
- transparency
- targeting
The current Enforcement Policy was approved by full Council on 23rd July 2012. You can download a copy of the Policy by clicking on the icon on the right.
