Council Land and Buildings
The Council's Land and Property Portfolio is widely spread throughout the district to provide a service to the community, but is concentrated within the main Towns of Bideford, Great Torrington, Northam and Holsworthy. The Portfolio includes a variety of Land and property assets including Managed Commercial land and industrial estates, offices, depots, car parks, cemeteries, play areas, public conveniences, woods and amenity land

We have recently completed full registration of our estate with HM land Registry, along with updating our system to an electronic 'terrier' of land and property assets. Please contact us if you wish to know whether the Council own a piece of land or property. Please note, that we do not hold details of land and property in private ownership. The Council's Asset Management Plan 2008 - 2010 sets out how the Council handles its land and property portfolio. This has received the highest rating of "Good" from Government Office Southwest. -
The Council's Property Team will consider all requests to purchase or lease land from us. We are happy to consider requests for small pieces of land from our citizens, provided the request would not have a negative impact on the environment or the public good. We will also consider requests from the third sector for the transfer of assets to the community -
The Council has 68 sites that are rented out on a long term basis to beach hut owners. The sites are on the Promenade and an area at Merley Road both at Westward Ho! -
Torridge District Council operate a number of Pay & Display car parks across the District and also act as agent to Devon County Council for the enforcement of on street parking regulations. -
Torridge District Council manage and maintain cemeteries at several locations throughout the district -
We let a number of offices, workshops, industrial units shops and garages in the district as part of our commercial estate -

Torridge District Council own a number of leisure facilities across Torridge which are run under an agreement between the Council and Parkwood Leisure -
