Cookery Workshops & Chefs' Corner Demo's

We partner with local cooking enthusiasts, chefs, and educationalists to facilitate cookery workshops and demonstrations with the aim of encouraging cooking with fresh ingredients and adopting healthy food choices. We encourage families to cook together, plan and budget for their meals and to set aside 'meal dates' at least twice a week where the family can focus on 'slow food' prepared and eaten together (with the TV off). We are especially keen to see Dads develop cooking skills, where these are lacking and to get them cooking with their children. We like to do simple, the basics start with how to prepare salad and vegetable and basic knife skills.

Our gratitude to Chefs that have helped us in the past, include:

EAT YOURSELF TO HEALTH

The original 'Chefs' Corner' project launched in 2007 promoted local food, healthy eating and cookery skills at local community events. The Cookery Workshops, Can't Cook Won't Cook continue this theme but have moved the cookery demo's to hands workshops.  We should all think about reducing the amount of processed 'white foods' we consume and eat more whole foods, with plenty of different-coloured vegetables and fruit. We get more sustained energy and less damaging insulin in our bodies by eating foods with low or no sugar, salt and fat. By reducing intake of these three common ingredients, we also reduce the likelihood of getting Type 2 Diabetes, Coronary Heart disease and Cancers.
