Welcome to Planning at Torridge

At Torridge we want to encourage good development in our communities. We want to help you in making sure that whatever you are planning, it is done well. When you come to us you will find that we are ready to help you and offer you honest advice whether your project is big or small.

From these pages you can:

  • Find out if you require planning permission, how to make a planning application and how to gain advice even before you make an application.  
  • Work with Building Control in ensuring your project meets with building regulations.
  • Read our policies and documents regarding planning and find out how to get involved to influence and shape them.
  • Learn about Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas in Torridge and how we seek to conserve and enhance these areas.

 


Please be aware that Torridge District Council are now charging for Pre application advice,  the procedure and fee schedule that will be applied can be found by clicking on the following link: pdf icon Pre-App Charging Schedule [125kb]

In an attempt to limit the impact of this on our customers the charges will not be applied in the  following circumstances:

1.         Planning applications relating to  facilities for the disabled.

2.         Planning Applications by Town or Parish councils.

3.         Planning Applications by Registered Charities

4.         Householder Planning applications.

5.         Listed building applications .

6.         Planning matters relating to enforcement.

7.         Discussions with local residents affected by Planning Applications for development .

8.         One meeting with the applicant following a refusal of planning permission.
