Torridge District Council currently spends approximately £10 million annually on a wide range of goods and services. The Council has adopted the Devon Districts Procurement Strategy which provides the framework for procurement throughout the Council.

The role of the Economic Regeneration Team at Torridge is to help develop the local economy and provide strategic input to local and regional economic policy making. The Council is committed to attracting new jobs to the area through it's inward investment programme and works in partnership with other agencies.

The Food and Safety Team is part of the Council's Environmental Health Service. We work alongside the Environmental Protection and Licensing Teams from offices in Bridge Buildings, Bideford. We undertake official food safety controls in the District and enforce health & safety in the workplace at certain premises including retail, wholesale and leisure businesses. We are a statutory service and work in close partnership with national enforcement agencies such as the Food Standards Agency, Health & Safety Executive and the Health Protection Agency. These pages have been designed to support local businesses and members of the public, wishing to make a complaint or enquiry.

The Council is required by law to regulate a wide range of activities. The primary purpose of the licensing function is to protect the public and to promote high standards of operation in licensed premises.

The Local Land Charges Team is responsible for providing this Council's Local Authority Search process. This includes the maintenance of the Local Land Charges Register, the issue of Official Search Certificates and responses to the CON29 Enquiries of local authority questionnaire.

Torridge District Council operate a number of Pay & Display car parks across the District and also act as agent to Devon County Council for the enforcement of on street parking regulations.

Torridge District Council is making a key contribution to promoting sustainability by taking a lead in exploiting the many opportunities presented by its own buildings and activities.

The pricing for collecting Commercial Waste is done on a quotation basis. In the first instance, an Officer would attend to price and set up the collection as necessary. However Torridge District Council would not be as competitive as other main contractors who are able to specialise in the bulk collection of commercial waste.
