Farmers Markets Bideford Quay (VIDEO)
Chefs Corner has teamed up with Dan Garnett, better known as "Dan the Fish Man", and other local chefs to give cooking presentations at the Farmers Markets. Dan has kindly provided his mobile fish kitchen equipment for the events. The Farmers Markets are open most Saturdays from 9.30 am to 2.00 pm. Dan Garnett gets a guest from the audience (Sophie) to have a go at preparing some raw squid. She is up for the challenge and does a fine job. She made a bit of a bodge of the sea bass though. When it came to tasting the squid it was "I'm in the audience get me out of here". Dan offers Sophie a taste of the finished squid dish and says "go on breath through the pain" but Sophie makes a dash for the back of the gazebo, squid's not her thing. Everyone else seemed to tuck in and enjoy the tasters however.
Brian Steele from Yeoldon House Hotel entertained everyone with stories of his long career as a chef while cooking up wild mushroom tartlets and smoked fish with fresh herbs, creme' freche and white wine.
