Who can rent a site?Residents and non-residents can rent sites but they provide and maintain their own beach huts. The Beach huts are very popular and all sites are rented out at present.
-
How can I obtain a Beach Hut?You will need to join our waiting list. As soon as a beach hut owner informs us that they wish to sell their beach hut, we provide a copy of the waiting list to the seller who may then contact you. The sale of the beach hut structure itself is then a private agreement between the buyer and seller. Our interest lies in the rental of the land on which the beach hut sits.
-
How much will it cost me?The Beach Hut owner will decide the selling price of the hut. The Council charges a site rental that is payable in advance each year from 1 April. The passing rental for the 2013/14 financial year has been approved by the Community and Resources Committee and has been set at £360 + VAT per annum. (£432 inclusive of VAT at 20%). We also have to charge National Non-Domestic Rates (NNDR) on your beach hut.
-
How much is the National Non-Domestic Rate charge? The 2010 to 2015 Rateable Value for Beach Hut sites has been set by the Valuation Office at £300. The rates payable for all Beach Huts for 2013/14 is £138.60 for the year. You may also be entitled to claim Small Business Rate Relief which could attract a reduction in your rates bill.
