Energy Efficiency Grants

Grants are made available for homeowner-occupiers, landlords and tenants for insulation works and heating installations

The Council does not administer these grants, but can offer advice and information on energy efficiency measures.

The Housing Health & Safety Rating System (HHSRS) empowers local authorities to ensure that properties comply with higher health and safety standards and economic heating and insulation systems.

There are a variety of grants available to help Homeowner-Occupiers, Landlords and Tenants to insulate their homes and to install heating systems where properties have either a non-working system or no system at all.

Grants have been offered through certain Energy Suppliers, The Warmfront Scheme (Defra administered) and the Cosy Devon Scheme.

This scheme can offer reduced price or free loft and cavity wall insulation.

From 2013 The Energy Act provides for current schemes to be replaced by the Green Deal & the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) - further details of these can be found on Department of Energy & Climate Change.
