The Holsworthy AgriBusiness Centre

The Holsworthy Agri-business Centre is the heart of agriculture for North Devon. Click to find out more.

The new £6 million Holsworthy Livestock Market in Holsworthy, Torridge, opened for business in September 2014 when the first market saw over 4000 animals pass under the hammer. The official opening was conducted by no other than HRH The Princess Royal, Princess Anne.

The marketplace at Holsworthy was in need of updating to help provide for the future of farming in the area and strengthen the area's resilience in challenging economic times. The market had to meet strict biosecurity regulations and the new centre will be easier to sanitise after each market meet. The presence of offices for feed, machinery and insurance companies under one roof will also be an advantage to all who use it.

As well as the main livestock market the site includes 21 kiosks, currently occupied by national companies such as the NFU, to local independent companies from the area.

Head of paid services at Torridge Jenny Wallace said of the Agribusiness Centre 'Torridge's most ambitious and largest project to date - and what an asset to Holsworthy it will be. A catalyst for economic growth which should draw more investment into the wider area in the short and long term.'
