Clay ship early arrival and loads - log ship on schedule - second clay ship due - small yacht calls -

mv VASILIY SHUKSHIN arrived from Newport last Wednesday evening, and was Piloted in by Paul Gyurgyak relief Pilot. The heavy rains had made river conditions difficult for turning the ship ealier in the week during the neap tides, and it was expected to berth her starboard side to, but a slight reduction in river flows enabled the Pilot to berth her safely on Town Quay upstream berth. Pilot Boat crew were Steven Perham (Clovelly Harbour Master) and Thom Flaxman (NDYC secretary). The ship has now been loaded with 2950 tonnes of Ball clay for KUNDA, Estonia and will float ready to be trimmed and sail on Monday evenings tide at 1700 hrs. (Russian crew)

mv FORSETI will arrive tomorrow (Saturday) and berth at 1530 hrs ready to load logs at 0600 hrs on Monday next. She is likely to sail on Tuesday pm tide at 1745 hrs or possibly Tuesday am tide subject to her loaded draught. Her Spruce logs are mainly stored at BRUNSWICK WHARF. mv CELTIC MARINER will be ready to berth on Monday PM tide, subject to the VASILIY SHUKSHIN sailing. and will load approx 2800 tonnes of Ball Clay for CASTELLON in SPAIN. She has an entirely POLISH crew.

A 19' Manta lifting keel yacht called RAHLOU arrived yesterday and is on her way from Bristol having called at CARDIFF and PORLOCK BAY and is bound for PADSTOW and perhaps the SCILLY ISLES and FALMOUTH. She is crewed by an adventurous young couple.

Gig Racing will happen off APPLEDORE this Sunday and a Farmers Market and Heritage weekend on Saturday, including sheep driving over the Longbridge!
