Guide to Information

As a result of the Publication Scheme Development and Maintenance Initiative the Information Commissioner's Office has introduced a model publication scheme that all public sector organisations should adopt from 1 January 2009.

The model scheme can be found in the downloads box, opposite.

This is Torridge's 'Guide to Information' which we intend to make 'interactive' with hyperlinks over the next few months.  In the meantime most of the information listed below can be found on our website (if required please use our search facility).  If you are unable to find the information, please contact us and we will be pleased to help.

Officer Delegated Decisions

Certain officers of the Council are empowered under the Council's constitution to make certain decisions which are recorded on-line to ensure openness and transparency in the Council's decision making.

Fees and Charges

Generally material which is published and accessed electronically will be provided free of charge. Any charges made by Torridge for routinely published material will be justified and transparent. Charges will made for information subject to a charging regime approved by the council or by parliament and for any relevant expenditure incurred:

  • Photocopying documents not available for free on our website (will be charged at 10p per A4 side and 20p per A3 side, larger sizes - price on request, externally produced documents - actual price)
  • Postage and packaging (actual cost)
  • The viewing of information at our premises - any additional costs incurred (not including normal staff time)

If a charge is to be made confirmation of the payment due will be given prior to the information being provided. Payment will be requested prior to release of the information.

Making a Complaint

Internal reviews will be conducted by either the Senior Solicitor or Governance Manager.
