Information about the Data Protection Act 1998 and how we treat personal details about you.

Torridge District Council needs to process accurate and relevant information about individuals, citizens and all people who do business with us in order to be efficient and effective in the provision of our services. 

The Data Protection Act puts a duty on us to make sure we use all of this information fairly and correctly for the express purpose for which it was gathered.

The information we can hold about you can include:

  • Forms you have completed and given to us
  • Letters and e-mails you have sent to us
  • CCTV footage
  • Details of any checks made to ensure the information we have is correct
  • Information about you supplied by other parties
  • Computer and paper records
