Guidance Notes

The following notes should help you to complete your application form as effectively as possible.

CV's will not be accepted.

All relevant information must be provided on the application form.  Selection for interview will be made from this information only.  Our advertisement only gives a brief account of the job and it is advised that the job profile is read thoroughly prior to application.

Applying for a vacancy:

In order to get short-listed you must demonstrate how you meet ALL the essential criteria for the post.  Please provide specific examples of your skills, knowledge and experience against each of the criteria, both paid and unpaid work will be taken into consideration.

If there are a large number of applicants the desirable criteria will also be considered.  It is important therefore to demonstrate through your application how you meet ALL the essential and as much of the desirable criteria as possible.

If you have gaps in your employment history these must be explained.

Qualifications / Certificates:

All qualifications declared on your application form (Page 4) will need to be verified at interview.  Please note the interview will not take place if the certificates are not supplied.

Duplicate certificates or letter of Confirmation of Results are available from the Exam Boards.  The Exam Boards hold records starting from as early as 1908.

Convictions and Disclosure:

The Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 gives individuals the right not to disclose details of old offences as they are deemed to be 'spent'.  As an employer we are however allowed to seek information relating to previous convictions (including those deemed to be spent) when the role involves working with children or vulnerable adults.

References:

We reserve the right to take up references from interview stage onwards.  If in paid employment, your current employer should be named as the first referee that we may contact.  If you do not wish your referee to be approached at this stage you should indicate this on your application form.  References must cover the last three years of employment history.  All offers of employment will be subject to satisfactory references being received.

If you have not been employed before, you should give the name of someone who will be able to comment on your skills and abilities such as a teacher or lecturer, or other professional person who is not a friend or relative.

Late applications:

The cut off point for applications will be 12 o'clock mid day on the closing date.  Applications received after this time will not be considered.
