Does the Council run a Private Sector Leasing scheme?

Did you know Torridge runs a lease scheme whereby it will lease your property from you at an agreed rent for up to four years?

To meet the Council's statutory obligations under homelessness legislation we require family sized homes with modern facilities.

You'll be guaranteed a rental income whether or not the property is occupied, and the council will manage the property and take care of some of the maintenance on your behalf.

We're on the look out for good quality unfurnished housing throughout the district, but in particular in the Bideford and Northam areas.

Properties accepted on the scheme must meet housing standards and will be used to accommodate people in housing need.

If you agree to lease your property to the council, you will be assured of:

* a competitive rental income, paid monthly in advance, guaranteed for the lease period - even if the property is empty
* a fixed term lease of up to four years
* no management fee
* guaranteed vacant possession of the property and in a good state of repair and decoration (excluding fair wear and tear)
