I have received a reminder what should I do?

PLEASE NOTE: NO MORE THAN TWO REMINDERS WILL BE ISSUED IN ANY FINANCIAL YEAR.  IF A THIRD INSTALMENT IS NOT PAID BY THE DUE DATE, RECOVERY ACTION WILL BE TAKEN FOR THE OUTSTANDING BALANCE OF THE WHOLE YEAR'S COUNCIL TAX WITHOUT ANY FURTHER NOTICES BEING SENT.

Detailed below are some questions often asked by Council Tax payers

WHY HAS THIS REMINDER NOTICE BEEN SENT TO ME?

According to the Council's records you have not made the monthly payment as required under the instalment provisions.  Payments must be received by the date your payment is due, as set out on the bill.

MY INSTALMENTS HAVE BEEN PAID AND ARE UP TO DATE

You must allow time for the payment to reach us, it can often take as much as seven days before the payment is received.  Payment has only been made when the Council actually receives the money.  However, if you have regularly paid your instalments each month when due contact the Council Tax Team immediately.

I HAVE LEFT, OR WILL BE LEAVING, THE ADDRESS SHOWN OVERLEAF IN THE NEAR FUTURE

Contact the Council Tax Team immediately.

I CANNOT AFFORD TO BRING MY PAYMENTS UP TO DATE

Contact the Council Tax Team immediately as it may be possible to make an alternative arrangement for payment, although this may be subject to recovery action continuing.

I HAVE AN APPEAL OUTSTANDING, DO I STILL HAVE TO PAY?

Instalments must be paid in accordance with your current bill, pending the outcome of any appeal.  Any overpayment which arises as a result of altering the valuation list will be refunded.
